BSS Security Officers
BSS Security Officers are registered through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice and maintain their registration through regularly scheduled training. BSS is proud to provide three levels of officers that are sure to fit your organizational needs.
Security Officer (SO) I Provides the basic services of all security officers, which is to observe and report. Each officer receives at a minimum 18 hours of training in the use of force, Virginia laws governing security, and the typical duties of a security officer.
Security Officer (SO) II In addition to SO I training each officer receives 12 more hours of training, and is certified in the use of: pepper spray, expandable baton, and unarmed self-defense. Each officer is required to successfully pass a nationally recognized training program that covers each of the above listed capabilities.
Security Officer (SO) III Each SO III is certified to carry a firearm and has successfully completed 22 additional hours of training in the use of force, powers of arrest, and is qualified on the firearm they carry, as well as certified to carry pepper spray, an expandable baton, and is fully capable of providing all your security needs.
In accordance with the client’s wishes and needs, BSS is capable of providing its' officers with any additional training required. Those topics that cannot be taught by the President of the organization will be provided by suitably certified trainers of the Central Training Academy. BSS’ ability to provide training to their officers reduces the need for inflated rates offered by other companies who must provide the necessary training to their officers by third party training academies. In turn, these savings realized by BSS are passed on to the client in the form of lower hourly rates.
